‘The Astronot‘ is an Official Selection in the Direct Short Online Film Festival in the ‘feature film’ category. The film, directed by Oregon filmmaker Tim Cash, spans from 1941 to the pinnacle of the space race in 1969 when Neil Armstrong sets foot on the moon. The film tells the story of Daniel McKovsky, a young boy growing up in the 1940s who is fascinated by space. He talks with his father Walter about the possibilities of space travel. In the 1940s though, travelling to the moon was just the talk of science fiction, much like that of a Mars colony today. It was possible, yet the steps needed to be put in place were not there yet.
