The Astronot film by director Tim Cash is a Finalist & screening at the Near Nazareth Festival in Afula, Israel this June 3rd-7th. The film was shot in Bend, Oregon over a 30-day period. The Astronot begins in the 1940s along the banks of the Deschutes River in Central Oregon. It follows the life of Daniel McKovsky growing up & his lifelong love of outer space. He talks with his father Walter about the prospects of space travel to the moon, but this was before there was such a thing & only in humankind’s imagination. But by the 1960s, it was a reality with the space race between the Russians & Americans & he was witnessing it firsthand. Becoming an astronaut was all Daniel ever dreamed about.
